Ronda is a city in the Spanish province of Malaga, which is part of the autonomous community of Andalusia. It is located about 100 kilometers (62 miles) west of the city of Malaga. Its population is approximately 35,000 residents.

The first settlers of the town of Ronda were the ancient Celtic tribes, who appeared here in the 6th century BC, called the town Arunda. Later, settled near the Phoenician settlers who founded the settlement Asipino, and called in the neighborhood of the ancient city of Ronda-la Vieja, Arunda Drevnayaya or Ronda. However, modern Rhonda Roman origin, it was founded as a military fortress during the Second Punic War, Scipio Africanus. Rhonda became a city during the reign of Julius Caesar.
The city is located in a mountainous area at an altitude of approximately 750 meters (2460 feet) above sea level. Guadalevin River flows through the city, dividing it in half, forming a steep, more than a hundred meters deep, canyon-El Tajo.
Three bridges Puente Romano, Puente Viejo and Puente Nuevo, pass over the canyon. Puente Nuevo is the tallest of the bridges, it rises to a height of 120 meters (390futov) above the bottom of the canyon. All three bridges are the most striking sights of the city.
American writers Ernest Hemingway and Orson Welles, spent many years in Ronda, taking shelter in an old section of town known as La Ciudad. Both are described in his works the beauty of this ancient city, which contributed to the rising popularity among tourists Rhonda.
